These are delicious hot, warm or cold. This is a basic scone recipe that never fails for me.
Ingredients
- 4 cup plain flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tsp bicarbonate of soda
- 4 tsp cream of tartar
- 200 g dates chopped
- 100 g butter melted
- 1 egg
- 1 1/2 cup milk
Method

Step 1Sift, flour, salt, baking soda and cream of tartar.

Step 2Add dates.

Step 3Whisk egg in the milk and add the butter. Make up to 2 cups of liquid with extra milk.

Step 4Add to dry ingredients mix.

Step 5Place on a floured board or baking tray.

Step 6Cut into 16 with a wet knife.

Step 7Bake at 225C for 15 minutes.
