Ingredients

  • 4 cup plain flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp bicarbonate of soda
  • 4 tsp cream of tartar
  • 200 g dates chopped
  • 100 g butter melted
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 cup milk

Method

  • Step 1
    Sift, flour, salt, baking soda and cream of tartar.
  • Step 2
    Add dates.
  • Step 3
    Whisk egg in the milk and add the butter. Make up to 2 cups of liquid with extra milk.
  • Step 4
    Add to dry ingredients mix.
  • Step 5
    Place on a floured board or baking tray.
  • Step 6
    Cut into 16 with a wet knife.
  • Step 7
    Bake at 225C for 15 minutes.
