A delicious dessert.
Ingredients
- 4 quince
- 1 L water
- 1 lemon
- 2 cup caster sugar
- 4 whole cloves
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1/2 vanilla bean
Method

Step 1Place water, sugar, cloves, cinnamon and vanilla bean sliced down middle in saucepan.

Step 2Stir over heat to dissolve sugar.

Step 3Slice quinces in half and fit snugly into a baking dish.

Step 4Slice lemon thickly and place on top of quinces.

Step 5Pour syrup over quinces and cover with baking paper and lid.

Step 6Cook at 120C for 2½ hours. Turn fruit gently half way through cooking.

Step 7Fruit and juice should be a deep red colour. Serve hot or cold with cream.

Cooking time may take 3 plus hours depending on size and age of fruit.
