Ingredients

  • 8 apples peeled
  • 1 1/4 cups maple syrup
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup toasted walnuts chopped
  • 0.6 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup plain flour
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 6 tbs salted butter diced

Method

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 190C.
  • Step 2
    Cut apple into 8 wedges each. Put apple wedges into dish and toss together with the maple syrup, the nutmeg and cinnamon.
  • Step 3
    Scatter the walnuts over top.
  • Step 4
    Stir together the brown sugar and flour, add butter and rub in, add oats.
  • Step 5
    Sprinkle over apples.
  • Step 6
    Bake for 45 to 50 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the topping is crisp.
  • Step 7
    Serve with ice-cream, cream or custard.
